Singleton Moms Programs

We provide financial assistance in the amount of $300 a month towards one approved bill through the period of chemotherapy, radiation, or cancer related surgery. This financial assistance lasts for the duration of the treatment, up to a maximum of 9 months.

Our Parents are often physically unable to work while receiving treatment; this can create financial hardship which in turn causes chronic stress. Financial assistance from Singleton Moms helps to alleviate some of that stress, allowing them to focus on their children and their recovery. It is our goal to keep the household running as normally as possible. Payments can be made toward bills such as:

• Rent/Mortgage 
• Utility 
• Car payment 
• Insurance

Several times a month we provide our Parents with nutritious, well balanced pre-prepared meals for the family. Meals are prepared by our volunteers at with the focus on nutrition and the needs of the mother and her children.

This program reduces the financial and physical burden of cooking; it helps to keep the family eating healthily and provides an opportunity for an ‘at home family dinner’ that promotes quality time as a family.

All of the meals for the month are made at Michelle’s Kitchen Meal Preparation Parties by Singleton Moms volunteers. These events are held once a month and are always booked after the 14th of each month.

We all know that a clean home is important; it reduces ailments, stress and encourages a healthy lifestyle; what’s more, it lifts a weight off of Parents’ shoulders. Our Parents often are too weak from treatment to keep on top of family chores. Our Care Coordinator and Care Team volunteers provide a thorough cleaning of a family’s home up to once a month for each family.

We encourage our families to take advantage of this program. We understand that sometimes parents would rather that they do it themselves or have their children help take care of it on their own. It may even be a little outside of their comfort zone to have someone in their personal space cleaning up after them. However, after our families participate in this program they find it meets the needs of the family, has great benefits, and relieves the family of this burden. Our families have enough to worry about and there is nothing quite like coming in to a clean home to help them relax.

All of our volunteers are screened with a background check before entering the home. The family does not have to be present during the cleaning. We can address the specific areas of the home like the kitchen, bathrooms and living areas based on the parent's requests.

Michelle's Phone Book is a resource of community professionals and businesses which are willing to provide their services to our single parents with cancer, and their children, on an as-needed, pro-bono basis.

This program helps to reduce their stress, alleviate additional expenses, and fill needs which would otherwise go unmet. It also provides a unique and hands-on opportunity for community members to give of their time, talents, and expertise in a way that is rewarding and appreciated. Any services that would benefit our families are welcomed, and are to be at no charge to the parents and children that Singleton Moms serves.

This referral network is a great benefit to the Parents and their children.

We know that a big part of taking care of our Parents means making sure the kids have a network of support, too. We hold fun, kid-friendly events each quarter for our families. This gives the our kids a chance to meet other Singleton Kids going through the same challenges and lets them just hang out together and have fun. Such events may include mini-golf, a Mother's Day picnic, Halloween costume party, or visit to Zoolights.

We also promote opportunities when community supporters donate tickets to sporting, theater, or special events which can be given directly to the families, giving them a day out to enjoy some quality time together.

Singleton Moms pairs Singleton Families with adoptees in October of each year. At the time, the participating company/organization will receive a picture and brief bio about the family.

Each family is then asked to make a wish list and highly encouraged not to hold back on what they ask for! We always tell them that they may not get everything on their list, but you never know…! This list is then passed on to the participating group and the fun begins. Gift drop-offs are scheduled starting the second week in December.
