Camille Williamson - Care Coordinator

Mom Colleen’s volunteer Care Coordinator, Camille Williamson, says:
It’s extremely rewarding to be a volunteer Care Coordinator, because I feel like I’m giving back and doing something for somebody who didn’t ask to have cancer, who didn’t choose to be a single parent, who didn’t want to find themselves in this situation.
I also feel very connected to be helping a mom, when I am also a mom, as I know what it’s like to want to provide everything so well for your family, regardless of your own personal issues or challenges.
Colleen is an easy person to help because she’s so appreciative and never takes me or Singleton Moms for granted. I love Colleen for her positive attitude and the way that she helps to keep herself strong. Even when she is in a lot of pain or not feeling well, she still manages to keep her spirits up with her great attitude.
When you have a cancer diagnosis, it changes your entire life in an instant, and sometimes you don’t take the time to try and enjoy the “regular” fun things that you enjoyed before your diagnosis. I try really hard to focus the attention away from the cancer and more on the “girlfriend” aspect of our relationship.
I came into Colleen’s life because of the cancer, but I have stayed there because of the friendship. I wish I could do more for her. We have really bonded to the point that her family has been to my house, we go out to dinner regularly, and so forth. I feel like something really good, has come out of something really bad, because of our great relationship and Singleton Moms.
