The Singleton Moms 5th Annual ‘Lean on Me’ 5K Walk is one of the primary ways we can show our support for single parents with cancer, and their minor children, in our community. By participating in this fun, family-and-Fido-friendly event, you can make a difference with both your physical presence and monetary fundraising. We expect up to 500 people to be strolling and socializing, and every entrant receives a Singleton Moms t-shirt and special goodies and surprises at the end of the walk!

This year’s 5-kilometer course (just over 3 miles) will be hosted at the privately-owned PERA Club. Grab a friend or two, bring your kids and teens, leash up your dog and come out to enjoy a beautiful venue you couldn’t visit on your own!

WHY:

Our collective fundraising goal as a group for this year is $30,000. Each participant is asked to raise at least $100 in pledges … easy enough when you just ask 10 friends for $10 or 20 friends for $5! After registering for the walk, you will receive instructions with just a few easy steps for setting up your very own online fundraising page through the FirstGiving website. Consider forming a team with friends, family or co-workers!
ALL THE TOP FUNDRAISERS GET PRIZES, to be sent after the event.
- Raise $1-$249, earn a Singleton Moms t-shirt.
- Raise $250-$499, earn a Singleton Moms t-shirt and Singleton Moms aluminum water bottle.
- Raise $500-$999, earn a Singleton Moms t-shirt, Singleton Moms aluminum water bottle, and a $20 department store gift card.
- Raise $1000+, earn a Singleton Moms t-shirt, Singleton Moms aluminum water bottle, and a $20 department store gift card, one ticket to the November 10, 2012 Singleton Moms Giving Hands Ball, AND recognition on the Singleton Moms website.

$25 per person administrative fee ($35 walk-up, day of event).
Children under the age of 13 are FREE (but still need to be registered so they will receive a t-shirt).
Friendly dogs on a leash are welcome (but do not need to be registered).

How will the funds raised be used?
Singleton Moms provides a variety of programs for struggling single parents currently in treatment for cancer, and their minor children. To illustrate the impact, if we reach our target of $30,000, this could provide any of the following to Singleton Moms families:
- 1,500 nutritious, delicious, ready-to-eat family-sized dinners
- 175 payments of electric bills
- 120 room makeovers, camp scholarships or birthday parties for Singleton Kids
The funds raised at this event will be used for many different programs, all of which are extremely important to our mission of bringing emotional, financial and domestic support that courageous single moms and dads need while undergoing treatment.
