"Ahoy!" was the premise of the Singleton Moms 3rd Annual Giving Hands Ball, held at the Arizona Grand Resort on Saturday, November 12, 2011.

The evening's tropical paradise theme represented a warm and friendly island that Singleton Moms reaches to accomplish to provide for its families, after traveling through a turbulent storm on the high seas. Singleton Moms is there to greet and support these families.

Beginning the evening on the terrace with hors d'oeuvres, beverages, a treasure chest, desert island photo stop, desert island boutique, calypso maidens and a silent auction, guests mingled to the calypso music of James Taylor on Steel Drum, and the Basha High School Steel Drum Band.

For the second time, Cory McCloskey of Fox 10 was guest Master of Ceremonies and entertained the crowd throughout the evening with his witty remarks. "I've become an evangelist for this organization," he said.

Several Rosa Davalos Giving Hands Awards were given to the following: SRP Working Families Employee Interest Group (Outstanding Volunteerism), Blackstone Country Club (Exceptional Fundraising), DC Chapter of BNI (Creative Community Awareness), Dr. Clayton Palowy (Mending Hands Award), Tessa Miller (Care Coordinator of Year Award) and Nicole Trotter (Suzanne Ebanks Balafas Giving Back Award). Dana Balafas, the beautiful daughter of Suzanne Ebanks Balafas, presented Trotter with her award and spoke lovingly of her late mother.

Jody Farley-Berens, co-founder and executive director, spoke about all the services her organization provides, stating that 17,000 single parents in Arizona have cancer. "Singleton Moms can't wait for a cure. They need help now," she added. Her talk was extremely inspiring, as is the organization she co-founded for the memory of her dear friend.

The evening ended with dancing to DJ Sterling -- beginning with honoring all the former and current Singleton Moms invited out first on the dance floor for the "Moms' First Dance."
