About Michelle

In Memory of Michelle Singleton

Michelle Singleton was a single mom of 4 children aged 1, 5, 6, and 14 at the time of her diagnosis. She was just 32 years old when she passed away on October 23rd 2005. Through all her struggles, even before becoming sick, Michelle put her children first. She was an unbelievable mother and friend. She never complained, and never doubted God’s plan.

Michelle spent every moment she could, and every dime she had, on her children. She prepared dinner every night, cooked breakfast every morning. She did things like take her kids to watch airplanes land at 6:00 in the morning before having to be to work at 8:00. She loved her babies more than anything. They were always in the forefront of her mind. She was a loving woman, the kind you go to when you need someone. She was always willing to help, even when it put her out. Michelle was always optimistic and knew that there were brighter days ahead. She had a great sense of humor and an incredibly contagious laugh.

Michelle was a woman with an unfailing faith in God and did as much as she could to help those less fortunate than herself. Even while receiving her chemotherapy and radiation treatments she would, on the weekends, make up 100 sandwiches and pass them out to the homeless downtown. She would often go garage sale shopping with the little bit of money she had, so she could buy clothing and pass it out with the sandwiches. Every ounce of her was about giving.

Simply put, Singleton Moms started as a group of Michelle's family and friends who wished to honor a brave woman and carry on in her giving footsteps. By allowing single mothers with cancer the time to focus more on their family and recovery rather than their normal daily responsibilities, we feel we are fulfilling a legacy Michelle would be very proud to have been responsible for. Michelle was very blessed to have a lot of friends and family, she knew this. Singleton Moms looks forward to continuing to pay tribute to her memory while helping other strong mothers charge into a healthy and bright future.
